Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. (OSF) is seeking engaged Grading Utility Tech. This position supports the success of the Apple Grading and Sizing Department. Key duties include sorting, cleaning, sanitizing, equipment set ups, inspections, and assisting with preventative maintenance. This position can grow the right individual into the back-up Grading Operator.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support all functions, operations and process in the Grading and Sizing area or department
- Discard inferior or defective fruit and/or foreign matter and leave acceptable fruit on the production line for further processing.
- Record necessary tallies as required for proper documentation.
- Maintain a clean and safe Grading area & equipment cleaning & sanitation.
- Follow safety and security rules and precautions, including emergency shut down/stop.
- Stay on schedule with rotating stations and breaks.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Follow GMPS. And Quality Assurance and Food Safety Guidelines.
- Observe machinery for issues and report promptly to Operator or Supervisors.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance
- Demonstrate a daily commitment to continuous improvement.
- Report any issues with product flow or production to the supervisor immediately

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience in whole apple grading and quality control a plus
- 2 years working in a fruit packing facility preferred
- Industrial equipment operator experience preferred
- Mechanical or maintenance experience, with a preference of industrial maintenance
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Demands vary between rotating stations.
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. safely
- Standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting and bending, use of both hands, manual & finger dexterity for rolling/manipulating
- Cold, wet, and damp climates of 33°F-38°F
- Exposure to loud noises
- The requirement of the use of safety equipment when operating machinery that may include but will not be limited to protective clothing, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes
- Repetitive motions
- Must be able to work a varied schedule during seasonal times (days/mid/evenings)
