POSITION: Maintenance Worker
LOCATION: Baraga, Ojibwa Casino
WAGE: $15.50/hr
STATUS: Part-time (up to 37/hrs per week)

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintenance projects on Casino grounds as assigned including, but not limited to, building repairs, painting, electric, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, grounds-keeping, swimming pool, general maintenance and special projects. Incumbent will be responsible for completing daily work reports regarding time, date, material used, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma, GED or High School Certificate of Completion is required.
2. Must be at least 21 years old.
3. One (1) year general maintenance experience in addition to previous experience in carpentry, electricity, plumbing and HVAC repair is preferred.
4. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
5. Must have experience using power hand tools is required.
6. Must exercise good judgment in job assignments and personal capabilities with the ability to communicate these needs.
7. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
8. Must be safety oriented.
9. Must have excellent customer/employee relation skills and be able to deal with the general public and fellow employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity and maturity.
10. Must have a valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be able to operate fleet vehicles. **Must sign the KBIC Driving Record Check Form.
11. Must be willing and able to obtain additional education and training as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Works on maintenance projects to include, but not limited to: building repair, painting, building remodeling/renovation, plumbing, HVAC repair, carpentry and some special projects.
· Completes daily work reports, orders, logs, etc.
· Performs snow removal activities.
· Assists with custodial and grounds keeping responsibilities.
· Assists Maintenance Supervisor in the operation and upkeep of assigned buildings, performing normal/routine maintenance and repairs, including equipment and tools.
· Adheres to departmental standard operating policies and procedures.
· Performs routine electrical work, including; repairing/replacing worn or frayed cords, plugs and switch plates, light bulbs, fuses, starters or breaker switches. Keep all exit signs properly lit and free from debris. Periodically inspect and test all fire alarms, sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and other emergency systems and keeps them in optimum condition. Maintain outdoor lighting and signs.
· Performs routine carpentry work which includes; repairing/replacing windows, doors, molding, trim, sash, paneling, hinges, safety chains/locks, mirrors, ceiling/floor tile, shelves, coat racks and equipment on premises.
· Performs routine plumbing work which includes; replacing/repairing faucets, toilets, drains, water heaters, safety valves and pipefittings on water systems. Frequently checks all pressure and temperature gauges on hot water systems, unclogs sinks, toilets and drains.
· Performs routine painting work which includes; emergency plaster patching, caulking, touch up painting and wallpapering.
· Performs routine heating work which includes; replacing and or inspecting filters, fans, heating thermostats, condensers, heating elements.
· Attends all safety/first aid training classes.
· Must identify safety hazards and report them to the proper authority.
· Grounds-keeping will include; cutting grass, trimming hedges, pruning trees and large shrubs. Maintenance of lawn mowers and other equipment.
· General maintenance will include; working with the other casino departments to ensure that all reported maintenance problems are repaired as soon as possible.
· Performs all other job related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop and squat.
2. Must be able to occasionally crawl, climb heights, reach above shoulders, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull.
3. Must be able to frequently lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
4. Occasionally carry and/or lift seventy five (75) pounds without help and one hundred (100) pounds with assistance.
5. Must be able to tolerate varying levels of noise, dust and/or smoke.
6. Employee must pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
