POSITION: Kitchen Lead
LOCATION: Baraga, Ojibwa Casino (PressBox)
WAGE: $17.00/hour Tips
STATUS: Full-time, Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is a working position responsible for supervising other cooks and kitchen staff in a fast pace food preparation environment. Besides directing staff, typically prepares most of the entrees and assists as necessary in preparing other dishes. This non-exempt position works swing shifts as assigned to include nights, weekends and holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. An Associate’s Degree in hospitality or a similar discipline is preferred.
2. Must have a minimum of four (4) years of cooking experience and one (1) year of supervisor experience working in a high-volume restaurant.
3. Must be at least 18 years old.
4. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
5. Must be Serve Safe Certified.
6. Must possess basic knife skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversees food handling and preparation throughout the kitchen.
* Directs and instructs kitchen personnel in their individual tasks.
* Monitors and evaluates staff and coordinates break schedules.
* Stocks and maintains all food stations, ensuring workspaces meet requirements.
* Answers staff questions about menu and food preparation.
* Modifies processes for routing and meeting orders according to time and quality standards.
* Ensures that all food served is arranged properly to ensure quality and consistency standards are met.
* Ensures all kitchen work is completed within specified timelines.
* Maintains required standards of kitchen and equipment.
* Ensures food preparation procedures are adhered to for quality, uniformity and accurateness.
* Ensures scheduled shifts are covered. May be required to cover additional shifts as needed.
* Assists in stock rotation and storage of delivered food and non-food supplies while checking for any damage.
* Assists in ordering food and other inventory as needed.
* Performs all other job related duties as assigned by their manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be physically mobile/flexible and have the ability to work in tight quarters. Must be able to bend/stoop, carry and lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds as needed.
2. Must be able to tolerate varying levels of noise, dust and/or smoke.
3. Employee must pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen. Employees handling food will be required to have a pre-employment and annual TB Skin Test.
