The Accounting Manager oversees and manages the firm’s core accounting functions, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting, payroll coordination, and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency while partnering closely with leadership to support the firm’s continued growth. The Accounting Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing best accounting practices for the firm.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee the set up and maintenance of projects within the project accounting system, ensuring proper work breakdown structure, budgets, and reporting
- Monitor project financial performance in coordination with project managers and leadership
- Perform cost accounting and related analyses to support informed business decisions
- Provide support for monthly invoicing cycle, accounts payable, and accounts receivable as needed
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Monitor project financial performance in coordination with project managers and leadership
- Prepare accurate monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports in compliance with GAAP
- Lead month-end close processes, reconciliations, and meet internal reporting deadlines
- Serve as the primary liaison with external CPAs to ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax filings and other required financial submissions
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, firm policies, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency, and internal controls
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison to firm leadership and staff, providing guidance, clarity, and responsive support
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance CPA certification
- 7 years of accounting experience at an architecture, engineering or multi-disciplinary professional services design firm
- Advanced proficiency / Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Deltek Accounting Systems (Vantagepoint)
- Strong grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
