The Night Auditor performs end-of-day accounting tasks and overnight front desk duties courteously and efficiently. They are to assist late-night guests by processing check-ins and check-outs, address any other guest related requests while they also audit, reconcile and balance daily financial activities. They play an integral role in dispatching emergency situations (i.e. fire, medical, power/system failure) by contacting the designated personnel for immediate assistance. Provides information to guests and visitors. Efficiently resolves guest issues and handles complaints forwarding to the supervisor or manager on duty when necessary.

STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS:

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.Success in this role will be demonstrated by implementing systematic processes to provide a smooth hospitality experience while maintaining accurate financial data.Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other associates or guests.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Experience in guest relations and resolution.
  • Minimum one (1) year previous experience in a similar position at a Four or Five Diamond Hotel.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Basic math and accounting skills.
  • Team player.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a hospitable and professional demeanor.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and hotel information.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the capacity of Guest Service Agent at an upscale hotel/resort.
  • Knowledge of Property Management Systems
  • Some college or training in the hospitality industry.
  • Previous cash handling experience.
  • Previous experience/knowledge in emergency procedures, such as first aid, fire, and natural disasters, is also a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle guest complaints according to procedures, ensuring guest satisfaction and notifying supervisor or manager when necessary.
  • Provide accurate directions to guests and visitors.
  • Ensure the security of guest room access.
  • Handle cash according to established procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of Front Office areas.
  • Process invoices and prepare checkout bills.
  • Posts room charges and taxes nightly.
  • Prepares daily reports and summary cash balances.
  • Process guest check-ins and check-outs.
  • Accept and record wake-up call requests.
  • Ensuring all end-of-day activities have been successfully executed by employees in operational departments.
  • Display standards of excellence and professionalism.
  • Work well under pressure and follow directions.
  • Maintain knowledge of:
  • Scheduled daily activities.
  • Daily arrivals and departures.
  • Hotel features, services and amenities.
  • Hours of operation for each outlet.
  • Work in a manner that promotes accident prevention.
  • Properly handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Comply at all times with OVI standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Be available to give directions or order transportation for guests
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a professional, service- oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with OVI Standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag while working
  • Other duties as assigned
