What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Lab Technician position at Oilfield Environmental & Compliance?

OEC is seeking a bright, science-oriented individual to join our Wet chemistry team! We are a fast-paced, full-service environmental testing lab equipped with couriers, field technicians, samplers, and multiple analytical departments. We test a variety of samples including wastewater, drinking water, produced water and solids.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Be familiar with laboratory technique and analytical practices (EPA and Standard Methods)
- Be familiar with laboratory instrumentation
- Must be extremely reliable and punctual
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Be able to work independently and take initiative
- Possess mechanical aptitude
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to do simple math
Preferred Qualifications:
- Courses in analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, quantitative chemistry
- Non-academic lab experience
- Wet chemistry experience
Responsibilities:
- Generating analytical data by various methods (EPA and Standard Methods)
- Meeting sample expiration times
- Keep excellent notes
- Study source methods and OEC SOPs (EPA and Standard Methods)
- Inform the direct supervisor of any QC or instrument issues
- Track supplies and complete ordering requests
- Data entry using Microsoft Excel and our LIMS program
- Prepare standards and reagent (i.e. buffer solutions, acid digest reagents etc.)
- Prepare dilutions (C1V1=C2V2)
- Work with colleges to ensure only defensible data is submitted for review
- Troubleshoot methods
- 8 hour shifts typically start between 6am and 10am depending on the needs of the department
- Shift may include a weekend day (hours are more flexible on the weekends)
