What is a Field Services Business Development Manager?
The Field Services Business Development Manager leads development of new business opportunities that support the overall growth strategy of the corporation. Identifies and develops strategic relationships with potential customers and develops strategies for market expansion. Works closely with both Sales and Marketing to implement business development initiatives in support of the strategic plan. Responsible for coordination of strategic project pursuit for large, cross-territory project opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have ten or more years of experience in the Oil and Fuel Filtration/Flushing industry. Past experience in a similar sales or business development role preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in a technical field, or equivalent work experience. Travel is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and develop new Field Service opportunities, including market, customer base, product line, and application expansions.
- Develop and execute plans to support corporate growth initiatives through development of existing customers and acquisition of new customers.
- Collaborate with OFS Sales Team to identify growth accounts and implement coordinated plans to grow our share within the target set of accounts.
- Coordinate project pursuit of large, cross-territory capital expansion projects.
- Travel to customers' facilities and perform walk downs to determine the full scope of jobs, as necessary.
- Provide technical support to customers and sales department when necessary.
- Discuss and review specifications with sales department and customers, and prepare/present valid and accurate field service proposals.
- Help determine what equipment is needed to be built to successfully perform filtration and flushing services - make recommendations regarding quantity and configuration of all required systems and equipment.
- Assist with overseeing the maintenance and organization of all filtration and flushing systems for the Field Services Department, including all equipment and accessories (hoses, fittings, tanks, containment berms, etc.).
- Assist in determining what equipment and manpower is needed for specific field service jobs.
- Identify problems/issues using advanced analysis. Troubleshoot and resolve efficiently using advanced analysis.
- Monitor industry economic conditions, trends and competitive landscape.
- Provide input for corporate annual and strategic plans.
- Provide timely feedback to management on effectiveness of growth programs.
- Monitors competitive activity amongst other field service companies with understanding of strengths and weaknesses of each.
- Help manage human resource activities within the area of accountability, to include staffing, performance management, salary administration, and other related activities.
- Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, customers and peers effectively.
- Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
- Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
- Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree required preferably in a technical field, or equivalent work experience. Ten or more years of experience in the Oil and Fuel Filtration/Flushing industry. Past experience in a similar sales or business development role preferred.
The successful candidate shall be an energetic, effective, self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills who is able to excel in a fast-paced sales environment. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Technologically advanced and oriented with strong computer skills. Strong communication and presentation skills. Customer service oriented and organized. Must have a natural ability to engage in business relationships with individuals and groups and a desire to improve these talents. Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle and credit report.
Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.
Physical and Technical Environment
Minimal lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions. Travel required, exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site, changing deadlines, strict time constraints.
