Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
(1) Analyzing Medicare and Medicaid claims data and/or grants and contracts data to identify trends, anomalies, or potential fraud, waste, and abuse in support of federal oversight activities; and
(2) experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) and implementing query optimization best practices; and
(3) experience generating data to support oversight activities such as audits, evaluations, and investigations; and
(4) experience using agile best practices to lead day to day operations of a data analytics team; and
(5) Writing and maintaining Python scripts and using Git for version control in a collaborative data analytics environment
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Critically analyzes, synthesizes, and reports data and findings to satisfy the data provisioning and ad hoc analysis requests from each of the OIG components. Meets with requestors and/or OIG managers to determine the scope of the project and proposes a plan for analysis and a target completion date.
Performs a broad range of qualitative and/or quantitative analysis methods for the assessment and improvement of the DDA program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management processes and systems.
Formulates computerized programs, models, charts, tables, other analytic work products and provides appropriate documentation to aid readers in the correct interpretation of the data and results from analysis work conducted to assist OIG oversight and management components.
Plans, schedules, and coordinates assigned workload using agile processes in order to meet required deadlines and working simultaneously with multiple projects in various stages of the work process.
Develops and prepares data for component work papers, written reports, memos, and other documents to summarize results from analysis work conducted to support audits, evaluations, inspections, investigations, and to present recommendations.

Responsibilities:
Serves as an expert analyst, providing critical analysis of HHS and OIG programs and activities (approximately 75% of the time).
