The School of Dentistry shares the mission of the Oregon Health & Science University to provide educational programs, basic and clinical research, and high quality care and community programs. The dental school prepares graduates in general dentistry and the dental specialties to deliver compassionate and ethical oro-facial health care.
Function/Duties of Position
The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objects of OHSU and the School of Dentistry and include: Serving as an instructor in the preclinical laboratory, reviewing student work and providing critical assessment and aid in performing normal dental procedures, serving as a course director and giving lectures, attending lectures of fellow faculty members for courses in which the person is assigned, teaching in the predoctoral dental clinic and supervising students providing patient care, performing scholarly activities such as research (including laboratory and/or clinical studies), participating on committees within the school and university as assigned, and providing patient care.
The general pattern of working hours corresponds with scheduled clinic hours, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Deviations from this pattern may be necessary at times.
Annual 1.0 FTE salary ranges are as follows:
- Assistant Professor: $130,396 - $151,540
- Associate Professor: $156,087 -$182,056
This position is under the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Juliana B. da Costa, DDS, MS.
Required Qualifications
- Dental degree (DDS/DMD) from a CODA accredited school, or advanced training in a specialty program at a CODA accredited school
- ADA accredited advanced training program in Prosthodontics
- Oregon Dental License, Unrestricted (or eligibility to obtain prior to employment)
- BLS/ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership and participation in professional societies in dental research
- Demonstrated achievement in research including awards, extra-mural funding, and publications in peer reviewed journals
- Must be able to teach at the pre and post graduate levels
- Extensive experience in digital dentistry, with focus on implants and removable prosthodontics
