Job Description Summary
The Lead Simulationist acts as a collaborator in the design, development, management and measurement of outcomes based experiential learning initiatives across the OhioHealth System, with a focus on outreach clinical education of EMS agencies and hospital healthcare providers throughout OhioHealth's 47 county services area. This includes facilitating learning through all forms of experiential learning including high fidelity simulation; computer based training and bedside teaching. This position is expected to participate in educational design and as an educator as a content expert, experienced educator and expert Simulationist in the care of the critically ill and injured in the pre-hospital and emergency setting. The Simulationist is responsible for the collection of outcomes data that would demonstrate a value for the system. In addition they are also responsible for the operational effectiveness of System Wide Outreach Education and System. Learning Initiative as defined by the Manager of OhioHealth EMS.
Responsibilities And Duties

Develops prehospital and emergency educational content for learners in a simulation environment. Implements these educational programs for all outreach clinical areas throughout the OhioHealth regions with focus on EMS agency healthcare providers. The Simulationist provides expertise in simulation, content, education and is proficient as an educator with adult learners. Must be knowledgeable in debriefing methods to all clinical areas and disciplines, including physicians, nurses, and allied health. 3.

: Works under the supervision of Manager of OhioHealth EMS to manage the operational effectiveness of their assigned Care Site Region/ System Wide Learning Initiative. 4.

: Designs and programs simulation scenarios for educational programs to achieve measureable outcomes as determined by the OhioHealth EMS Manager. Works with the OhioHealth EMS Manager to design, test and run simulations. 5. 5%
: Responsible for the care and maintenance of their assigned facility and/or equipment. 6. 5%
: Reviews evaluations of the effectiveness and the continuous improvement of all experiential programs and takes corrective action as needed to enhance the educational experience of the student. 7. 5%
: Measure the effectiveness of educational programs. Measurements include both process and outcomes. Reports measurements to Education Program Manager and to the OhioHealth EMS Manager. 8. 5%
: Assist with faculty development efforts including the training of program directors, educators and staff. Faculty development consists of both formal training and informal training including mentorship. 9. 5%
: Assist OhioHealth EMS staff in regards to their implementation of educational efforts. Works with the Manager of OhioHealth EMS to ensure that there is appropriate staffing and skills available for each educational effort.

Ohio Certified Paramedic; Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Provider; International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Provider. Excellent teaching skills. Knowledge of pre-hospital EMS operations and emergency medicine practice. Utilization of training manikins and equipment; operations of audio-visual equipment and basic computer skills. Three years of EMS “street” Experience and previous teaching Experience . Knowledge of personal computers and paramedic training practice.
