Manager of Facilities 

Job Summary/Purpose: Coordinates various special projects, analyzing cost, and identifying internal methods or suppliers to ensure that all facilities where patients receive care, treatment, or services, meet all federal, state and local requirements and facilities function as required for patients, families and staff.

What You Should Know About the Manager of Facilities:

  • This is a full-time position, the hours are: 8:00AM-5:00PM.
  • This position is based out of our Wooster. Ohio location. Does require travel to our sister unit in Tuscarawas. 
  • Oversees Repair & Maintenance, Culinary and Hospitality, as well as Ohio Department of Health requirements for the facilities. 
  • Collaboration with colleagues required.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Service Response

• Manage day-to-day facilities operations and set tone and direction to ensure standards are met and services align with organizational goals and objectives.

• Serve as the primary contact for facility-related questions, requests, or changes; respond to calls and messages in a timely and effective manner.

• Provide responsive, service‑driven facilities support by working independently and in collaboration with staff to ensure a positive experience for patients, staff, and visitors.

• Continually evaluate workflows, sequences of operation, and service requirements to improve efficiency, reliability, and service outcomes.

Facilities Maintenance

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for facilities and grounds.

• Perform repairs as appropriate and coordinate corrective maintenance to support a safe and aesthetically appropriate environment.

• Evaluate, recommend, and supervise outside services and contractors to ensure quality work, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility.

• Request and supervise volunteers assisting with approved maintenance-related tasks in compliance with policy and safety requirements.

• Dispose of surplus and obsolete materials in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Safety, Emergency Preparedness & Compliance

• Maintain fire and disaster preparedness plans and coordinate drills to ensure safety for patients, families, and staff.

• Ensure emergency preparedness documentation is current, complete, and reflects drills and plan updates.

• Actively participate in committees focused on facilities safety and emergency management.

• Maintain documentation of all required facilities processes, inspections, and compliance activities.

• Support compliance with applicable federal and state regulatory, safety, privacy, and employment requirements in daily operations.

Purchasing, Vendors & Documentation

• Confer with suppliers to obtain product and service information including pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.

• Review purchase orders and requisitions to ensure compliance with contracts and organizational policy.

• Prepare, process, and maintain requisitions and change notices using approved systems, including receipts, payments, and supporting Finance documentation.

• Maintain accurate and complete purchasing records and supporting documentation.

Quality & Organizational Support

• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities in support of Ohio’s Hospice quality and service standards.

• Assist other departments and perform additional duties as requested to support organizational and patient care needs.

Additional Operational Oversight (Region-Specific)

• This role is primarily responsible for Facilities Management. In certain regions, the position may also assume operational oversight of Security and/or Hospitality (housekeeping). Responsibilities associated with this additional scope will align with regional needs and may include s

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) Preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Two years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in facility 
  • maintenance. 
  • Training and knowledge in electrical, mechanical and structural systems equipment operation, service 
  • and repairs.
  • SMA, FMA or other Technical certification preferred.
  • Computer skills sufficient to properly document services and maintain preventive maintenance logs.
  • Travel may be required during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.
  • Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record
  • State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage
