OOC seeks a data enthusiast to work on our data team for our 2026 voter engagement and organizing programs.
Position Details
Part-time (20 hours/week) through November 2026. The schedule will be flexible, with some set weekly meetings and training during normal business hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required. This is a remote position that does not require you to be in-office daily, but some in-person training and events will be required in Ohio.
A Data Fellow must be comfortable using technology like a computer, opening a web browser, and engaging in software to help organize and facilitate integrated voter engagement (IVE) work. Computer literacy is a must in this position.
They must be self-starters and able to remain on task for their deliverables without being in an office setting. They must also be organized and self-motivated. They are also willing to ask questions if their program goals or how to obtain them are unclear.
They must be reachable during working hours by the Data Director.
They will be responsible for attending training and regular meetings. If unable to attend these, they may be asked to leave the program.
Additionally, they will be expected to fill out a nightly reporting form. This form is critical to track progress, get feedback on the program, and allow us to provide support where needed. This form is part of their work and should be completed before wrapping up for the day.
They must have access to a strong, reliable internet in their work setting.
Compensation: $25 per hr / $500 per week
Start date: September 14, 2026.
Position end date: November 6, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Support the organization to track, organize, and regularly update our staff metrics for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure best practices for data collection and recording across programs, civic engagement, advocacy, fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts
- Support the Data Director to implement impactful plans for large-scale civic engagement and advocacy in Ohio
- Support organizing and voter engagement teams to collect and report quantitative and qualitative data
- Support employee compliance with best practices around data security
- Specific responsibilities include
- Entering data from paper pledge to vote and other forms into our EveryAction and VAN CRMs
- Matching people to the voter file in VAN
- Assisting with dashboard creation in Looker Studio
- Downloading and uploading data to move from one database to another
- Setting up phone banks and text banks in Field Tools app
- Support tech and tools training
Desired Qualifications
- Commitment to our mission, with an appreciation for the role of community organizing in social change and movement building
- Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, preferably in political or organizing settings
- Strong time management and organizational skills, including experience managing multiple projects; ability to work independently, triage and prioritize among competing projects and deadlines
- Familiarity with civic and social engagement
- Comfortable working with computers and smartphones. Ability and willingness to learn how to use new software and apps; training will be provided.
- Patience and ability to work well with people at a variety of skill and experience levels, including being able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Preferred but not required
- Knowledge of and experience with Ohio political landscape
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Familiarity with VAN/EveryAction, Field Tools, Google Suites, SQL
