Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our Ophthalmic/Optometry team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely reimbursement. This role requires a strong understanding of billing procedures, coding systems, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to support efficient revenue cycle management and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
Duties
- Post all charges for respective providers.
- Verify the charge is billed to the correct insurance and/or vision plan or self-pay based upon patient request at time of service and physician coding.
- Review patient records and documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing.
- Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility.
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records related to billing activities.
- Post all premium charges and applying appropriate payments.
- Responsible for working aged accounts receivable.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and billing guidelines.
- Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and respond to insurance inquiries promptly.
- Responsible for balancing cash, checks, and credit card payments daily for their respective batches.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing and medical coding
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and coding standards including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and insurance claim procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in billing processes.
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
- Prior experience with medical office operations is preferred but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
