Job Summary
This position is for a custodian at Ohio County Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of school buildings, grounds, and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine custodial activities to maintain buildings, locker rooms, and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, and secure condition.
- Use cleaning materials, equipment, and methods according to pre-determined standards.
- Learn and apply knowledge of schedules, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work.
- Learn appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order and provide proper security.
- Perform minor non-technical repairs.
- Observe and report need for maintenance and repair.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Meet schedules and time lines.
- Communicate effectively with others.
- Inspect and assure the security of facilities during assigned shift.
- Provide manual labor for various tasks as directed by immediate supervisor.
Performance Responsibilities
- Practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times.
- Report to immediate supervisor any items requiring maintenance and an unusual or unsafe condition.
- Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks in assigned areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Operate and maintain powered cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbing machines and wet/dry vacuums.
- Use and maintain non-powered cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, and cleaning cloths.
- Perform grounds care tasks in assigned areas in accordance with established procedures.
- Operate and maintain powered grounds care equipment such as mowers and edgers.
- Provide manual labor for various tasks as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Moves office and school furniture and equipment as required to perform assigned cleaning and grounds care work tasks.
