WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The usual working space is a patient care and office area. Physical requirements of the job are detailed within this job description. Direct patient care requires both fine and gross motor skills. Also subject to exposure to bloodborne pathogens in patient care. Potential to be exposed to dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting agents). The environment may be stressful at times, therefore the ability to work productively under stressful conditions is necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides evidence-based, patient-centered care to individuals across the lifespan in an outpatient clinic setting. The RN provides professional nursing care to patients of all ages in provider practice clinics. Responsibilities are performed independently within the RN scope of practice and licensure. Responsibilities include nursing assessments, medication administration, procedure support, patient education, and care coordination. The RN also coordinates care across disciplines, manages referrals and prior authorizations, and supports insurance documentation for specialty services. Serving as the primary clinical liaison for the provider, the RN fosters communication among patients, providers, and care teams to promote continuity of care and positive clinical outcomes. Strong skills in patient advocacy, care coordination, and team collaboration are essential to success in this role. The RN works closely with providers and the clinical team to ensure safe, high-quality care in alignment with licensure standards and OCH policies. RNs perform duties within the full scope of registered nursing practice and serve as clinical leaders within the outpatient team. *Note: RNs in specialized roles (e.g., wound care, women’s health, allergy, etc) will complete a role-specific orientation, supplemental duties checklist, and skill competency validation as applicable. |
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Associate’s degree in nursing, BSN preferred.
Current RN license in the state of Kentucky or current work permit issued by KBN. (Licensure in compact state acceptable).
BLS Provider or equivalent knowledge; ACLS provider or obtains within 6 months of employment; PALS provider certified strongly recommended.
