What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scaffold Builder position at Ohio Chimney Co?
As we continue our busy repair season, Ohio Chimney Co is looking to add a few more members to our repair crews and scaffold building teams. We've been a family owned business since 1981, and the current owner is a third generation mason and certified chimney sweep! We are looking for skilled and motivated individuals to join our team and provide excellent service to our amazing customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking direction from their crew leader and executing the daily needed tasks at their assigned repair job. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. The candidate must be receptive to constructive feedback and be coachable, as this industry is highly specialized and requires specific terminology, knowledge, and execution in the field. Above all, you must have a great work ethic and sense of humor. We love to have a good time while getting our work done.
Potential responsibilities:
- Scaffold Assembly and Disassembly: Construct, modify, and dismantle scaffolding systems according to blueprints, safety codes, and industry standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols.
- Inspection: Inspect scaffolding components for damage or defects and ensure all parts are securely fastened and stable.
- Site Preparation: Prepare the construction site by evaluating the ground and positioning scaffolding components for stability and accessibility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with construction crews, supervisors, and other team members to ensure scaffolding meets the needs of the project and is completed on time.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of scaffolding inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on scaffolding equipment and report any issues or necessary repairs to management.
- Willingness to wear many hats and learn more about this specialized industry
- Any other duties as assigned by management!
Relevant previous experience includes, but is not limited to: (desired, but not required)
- Experience in scaffold erection or rigging
- Experience in an HVAC/plumbing/electric/roofing/related trade environment
- Experience in sales
- Experience in masonry
- Leadership in a trades environment
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver's License (required)
- Good Verbal Communication
- Good Physical Health able to lift minimum of 80lbs
