What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic - Auto Parts Salvage Yard position at Ohio Auto Recycling?
Ohio Auto Recycling is expanding again! We are looking for one highly skilled, motivated Mechanic to join our high-energy salvage and parts operation. This isn’t a typical dealership or repair-shop role — no customers breathing down your neck, no warranty battles, no sales pressure. Just honest mechanical work in a fast-paced environment where your skills actually matter and make you money.
If you enjoy diagnosing, removing, and working with engines, drivetrains, and mechanical components — and want a job where you can grow — this is the place!
What You’ll Do
● Remove and prepare engines, transmissions, differentials, and other major components
● Diagnose mechanical issues to determine part viability
● Test components when needed (run tests, compression tests, basic function checks)
● Perform light repairs and maintenance on yard trucks, forklifts, and equipment
● Help support our dismantling and inventory teams with mechanical expertise
● Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area
● Help establish profit opportunities within used motors, transmissions and parts.
Who We’re Looking For
We want someone who:
● Has solid mechanical experience ( ex-techs, and former dealership techs all welcome)
● Works well independently and with a team
● Takes pride in clean, damage-free removal of components
● Self motivated and a self starter.
● Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
● Wants stability, growth, and a long-term role
● Thrives in a hands-on, gritty, fast-moving environment
Why This Job Is Different
● No angry customers. Ever.
● Consistent hours and steady workflow
● Opportunity to grow within inventory, dismantling, management, or specialized mechanical roles
● You’ll work with a huge variety of makes and models — far more interesting than repair shop monotony
● Your work directly supports our e-commerce parts business
● You’re part of a tight-knit team where effort is noticed and appreciated
