This is not a sit down job and you have to enjoy being busy and on your feet. Your are working in a procedure room from 6:45 am to closing, assisting doctors, cleaning equipment and turning over surgical rooms.

As a GI Technician, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining video endoscopes and accessories in the GI Endoscopy suites. You must follow CDC guidelines for infection prevention and control. Additionally, you will assist physicians and staff nurses during procedures, perform daily equipment maintenance, and support the center's mission.

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the physician/endoscopist with a variety of endoscopic procedures in surgery suite.

• Provides patient care during procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), and/or physician.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Essential: Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, standing, lifting, pushing/pulling maximum 50 pounds of force; carrying 10 pounds; reaching above, at, and below shoulder level; repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

• Frequent: walking, standing, peaking/communicating.
• Occasional: squatting, stooping/bending, crawling, kneeling, walking on uneven ground, twisting body.
• Prolonged Standing.
• Operates various healthcare equipment and devices.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

• Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, radiation, odors and skin irritants.
• Work environment is moderately paced, not frequently stressful; works on multiple tasks and priorities at the same time, requires critical decision-making, and attention to detail.
