About Oh, Grow Up!
Oh, Grow Up! is a candy and novelty shop in Downtown Bangor built around nostalgia, humor, and joyful immaturity. We sell bulk candy, ridiculous gifts, and the kind of stuff that makes people laugh out loud in public. Our mission is simple: create a fun, welcoming space where people of all ages can embrace their inner goofball.
The Role
We’re looking for a Clerk / Goofball—someone who can handle the everyday duties of a small retail shop and help make the store feel playful, friendly, and a little unhinged (in a good way).
This is a part-time position, ideal for someone who enjoys people, doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and can keep things running smoothly while having fun.
What You’ll Do
- Greet customers and help create a fun, welcoming atmosphere
- Ring up sales and handle cash/card transactions
- Assist customers with candy, novelty items, and gift ideas
- Restock shelves, candy bins, and displays
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and inviting
- Help maintain a playful, upbeat vibe (jokes encouraged; being a jerk is not)
- Occasionally assist with events, promotions, or themed days
What We’re Looking For
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable talking to strangers
- A good sense of humor and willingness to be silly
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to multitask in a small retail environment
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting light-to-moderate items
- Retail or customer service experience is a plus, but not required
