Position Summary
Reporting to Ranch Manager, the Ranch Foreman will carry out daily farm activities with the assistance provided by Ranch employee crews. The Ranch Foreman is responsible, along with Ranch Manager for the overall crop production on an annual basis. This is to be conducted in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining positive workplace attitudes and with good ethics.
Position Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out farm operations. Ensure understanding of all crop requirements, production practices and pests.
- Oversee and direct employees including Harvest workers and mechanics in daily farming activities. Motivate and develop people as they work.
- Manage the repair of equipment and maintenance in a cost-efficient manner.
- Monitor activities such as irrigation, chemical application and harvesting. Ensure accurate documentation of all chemicals applied and maintain compliant storage when not in use.
- Ensure that work progresses adequately and safely.
- Report all safety and compliance issues immediately to leadership.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and all health and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. Will be required to drive and maintain ofi vehicle.
- Three (3) years previous experience in farm labor, preferably in tree crops, is required.
- Previous work experience working with equipment operation, safety, maintenance, and basic repairs is required.
- Ideal candidate will have a passion for excellence and an equally strong work ethic.
- Proactive attitude with attention to detail and ability to identify abnormalities is required.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish is required. Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in English and Spanish will be required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with reports, peers and supervisors is required. Must be available to work extended days and hours, typically 55-60 hours a week, Monday through Saturday during Harvest.
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $24/hr - $29/hr and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within that range may be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors
