The Quality and Food Safety Internship will provide an opportunity to support Quality and Food Safety (QFS) initiatives for a global food company while gaining hands on experience with the practices, standards, and compliance requirements that ensure safe and consistent product development.
Reporting to the Manager of QFS – Food & Beverage Solutions, the intern will play a critical role in creating, documenting, and optimizing key practices for Chicago pilot plants. This role will assist with procedure development, compliance, and documentation management, and contribute to specification management.
As a QFS Intern, you will create and document the QFS practices required for elaborating foods and handling food-related materials (including packaging and labeling) in collaboration with the QFS team.

Key Responsibilities
- Pilot Plant Food Safety & Quality Practices
- Conduct research and gather input on current food safety and quality procedures used in coordination with the Manager QFS-FBS align in QFS expectations for pilot plants: practices, records, and verification activities.
- Document procedures, working instructions and formats as required, and helps to socialize procedures with identified users and stakeholders.
- Compliance Verification & Risk Evaluation
- Perform periodic verifications of compliance
- Identifying good practices, key learnings, and priorities for QFS in design activities.
- Specification Management Project
- Collaborate with the process design, logistics for cross-functional meetings.
- Support the creation, review, and approval workflows to document new specification-related procedures and processes.
- Create metrics to control and track compliance after the requirements are implemented, partnering closely with the QFS Manager. .
- Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program, and majoring in Food Science, Food Safety, or related.
- Knowledge and understanding basic food and beverage industry requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to walk the CSC facilities, observe and verify critical to food safety and quality activities.
- Skilled using basic Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams.
