Position Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, the Sr. Payroll Manager will be responsible for the management, preparation, disbursement of US payroll in a multi-state, union, environment using HRIS/Payroll and time & attendance software. This includes accurate processing of employee deductions, timely submission of tax payments and compliance with federal, state and local wage and hour requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience in full-cycle payroll processing, with the ability to demonstrate organizational skills, prioritizing needs, and multi-tasking. A self-motivated individual who enjoys working with numbers and is detailed oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.

Position Responsibilities
- Audit, and oversee the full cycle processing of payroll, in accordance with local, State and Federal labor law guidelines/regulations. Ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Supervise and manage payroll team on all payroll processing activities.
- Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of earnings and hours. Verify that all payroll changes are processed correctly.
- Manage garnishment process with vendor to ensure compliance.
- Process all payroll taxes in accordance with federal and state tax requirements.
- Manage the annual statement process for all US employees. Ensure accurate and timely annual statements.
- Ensure accurate booking of payroll expenses to the company general ledger.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues.
- Work closely with the compensation and benefits teams to ensure accurate benefit deductions and record keeping. Assist with yearend audit reports.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all internal and external audit requests.
- Process termination checks as requested by Human Resources in accordance with final pay requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files in accordance with record retention requirements.
- Prepare special reports requested by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
- Eight (8) years prior experience processing payroll with a strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, tax rules and regulation is required. California payroll processing experience is required.
- Three (3) years prior experience as a Payroll Manager.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail, strong sense of urgency and ownership is required.
- Excellent ability to work well in a team-oriented environment is required.
- The ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance is required.
- Experience processing payroll within an HRIS/Payroll platform software is required. Previous ADP Vantage experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience processing payroll within an ADP platform, specifically Vantage, is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with tax filings in multiple states is preferred.
- Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional – CPP is preferred.
