Position Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Cost Accountant plays a critical role in supporting monthly financial close, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting for Hughson Nut. This position supports multiple manufacturing locations—including Livingston, Leedom, and Verduga, CA—and ensures collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to details, strong analytical skills, and deep experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in US GAAP and IFRS, SAP finance modules, and grower accounting is essential. The ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines is key to success in this role.

Position Responsibilities
Costing & Standards
- Develop and maintain plant products and production standards, including standard cost estimates, product setup, bill of materials, conversion costs, cost center creation, and overhead allocations.
- Lead annual review of production standards with plant leadership, ensuring accurate cost management, optimization, and full fixed/variable absorption.
- Prepare and publish variance reporting for process/work orders, throughput, downtime, source-of-loss, and margin analysis.
- Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards to support operational and financial decision-making.
- Deliver detailed operational cost variance analysis in both total dollars and per-unit metrics.
- Conduct ad hoc financial and operational analyses.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting tools, and strengthen internal controls.
- Coordinate the standards development process for annual budgets based on production and sales plans.
- Support forecasting cycles through timely analysis and cost modeling.
- Manage perpetual inventory quantities and valuation across multiple sites.
- Monitor cycle counts and physical inventories; analyze and report variances.
- Help drive improvements in inventory accuracy and working capital performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in finance or cost accounting. Experience with grower accounting or agricultural/food manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Experience with business intelligence and consolidation platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, BPC, Cognos, or OneStream is preferred.
- Experience with grower accounting or agricultural/food manufacturing environments.
- Extensive experience with SAP (all finance modules) and Fiori is required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with cross‑functional teams across geographies is required.
- Ability to develop tools and processes to simplify and clarify complex data is required.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
