Summary:
The Preconstruction Project Manager plays a critical role in bridging the gap between design and field execution, with responsibilities spanning project planning, design integration, field verification, and estimating during the preconstruction phase. The role is supported by an in-office Designer, Project Manager, and an on-site Install Supervisor to ensure seamless execution.
Essential Functions:
- Manage project planning, scheduling, and budgeting from initial concept through hand-off.
- Conduct and document accurate field measurements to support layout and design development.
- Coordinate estimates, identify scope gaps, and validate costs.
- Assist with project documentation and coordination.
- Leads the project team, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Interface with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to resolve preconstruction issues.
- Support the Designer in identifying design conflicts, potential cost savings, and opportunities to streamline execution.
- Ensure alignment between design intent and construction feasibility.
- Conduct site visits to assess field conditions and ensure alignment with design requirements.
- Provide feedback from the field to enhance design and budgeting accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong understanding of construction project lifecycles, estimating principles, and field operations. Able to read and interpret construction documents and design software outputs. Skilled in coordinating across departments to align cost, schedule, and scope objectives. Effective communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Bluebeam, and other relevant design tools. Comfortable traveling to job sites and working in varied field environments.
Working Environment: This role involves time in both office and field environments. Visits to active construction sites may require personal protective equipment and adherence to site-specific safety requirements.
Physical Demands: Must be able to conduct field measurements, walk construction sites, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift materials up to 30 lbs. Travel is required.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in construction administration/management roles.
- Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and construction documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent field experience preferred.
- Healthcare construction experience is a plus.
