Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-12/13 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for planning, implementation, oversight, and assessment of secure facilities used for storage, processing, and discussion of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Ensures facilities comply with Intelligence Community security standards governing Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
  • Designs, reviews, construction security oversight, accreditation documentation, inspection programs, and implementation of physical security controls protecting national security information.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a probationary or trial period. See "Additional Information" for specific details.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.
  • You must meet all eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement and continue to meet these requirements throughout the hiring process. Offers can be rescinded if requirements are not met.

  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to hold a security clearance at the TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Physical Security Specialist, at GS-0080-12/13, you must meet the specialized experience stated below.

For The GS-12

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service

implementing strict entry/exit protocols to individuals with proper clearances; and monitors physical security systems, to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), access control systems, CCTV and video surveillance or a security alarm monitoring system.

For The GS-13

For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service reviewing design, construction and/or accreditation of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility; implements strict entry/exit protocols to individuals with proper clearances; and utilizing physical security systems, to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), access control systems, CCTV and video surveillance or a security alarm monitoring system.

You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the 05/28/2026 of this announcement.

Selection may be made at any grade level, with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.
