The Senior Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable function, ensuring strong internal controls, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies. This role provides leadership across AP operations, Concur expense reporting, and payroll processing, while driving process improvements and delivering financial insights to senior leadership.
Job Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Leadership & Oversight
- Oversee the Accounts Payable function to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Develop, document, and enforce Accounts Payable policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure effective oversight of high-volume AP operations while maintaining accuracy and strong internal controls across the payment lifecycle.
- Oversee vendor onboarding, maintenance, and relationship management to ensure strong vendor partnerships and accurate records.
- Support reconciliation of the Accounts Payable subledger to the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Expense Management
- Oversee the company’s Concur expense reporting process, ensuring compliance with company policies and timely submission, approval, and reconciliation of expenses.
- Monitor expense reporting activity and identify opportunities to strengthen compliance and improve efficiency.
Payroll Management
- Manage payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain strong internal controls related to payroll processes and reporting.
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounting to ensure payroll transactions are accurately reflected in financial reporting.
Reporting, Metrics & Process Improvement
- Monitor AP performance through reporting, metrics, and dashboards; prepare and present insights to senior leadership.
- Lead initiatives to improve AP processes, implement efficiencies, and optimize financial systems.
- Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance scalability, accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and other departments to streamline workflows and support business operations.
- Serve as a key resource for AP-related questions, guidance, and process support across the organization.
- Perform other duties within the scope of knowledge and experience as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounts Payable, accounting operations, or related finance roles, with exposure to payroll and expense management; leadership experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, internal controls, and financial systems.
- Experience managing AP operations in a high-volume environment.
- Experience with ERP platforms and expense management systems such as Concur.
- Experience managing payroll processes and related compliance requirements.
- Advanced data analysis and financial reporting skills, including strong proficiency in Excel.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and process management skills.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
