What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Paralegal position at Office of the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee?
Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail oriented litigation paralegal. Prior experience in bankruptcy court or federal court is preferred. The ideal candidate must have experience handling a high volume case load. The applicant will work with our legal team to evaluate, research and analyze petitions, plans, motions, and objections filed by all stakeholders in the bankruptcy court system. The Office of the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee is a private employer that serves the Bankruptcy Court and the United States Trustee in the administration of chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. We are working in the office. If productivity is not affected and scheduling allows, experienced employees may work remotely on Thursdays and Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with all phases of bankruptcy case litigation, including case investigation, discovery, document review, and trial/appeals preparation
- Be proficient at performing financial calculations
- Conduct legal research using legal research tools to support case strategies and verify legal citations and procedures, including research and review of local court rules, administrative orders and individual judicial procedures
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, orders and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Organize and maintain legal case management databases while performing data entry and filing duties efficiently
- Provide executive administrative support as needed to attorneys and legal staff including proofreading of legal materials, hosting zoom hearings and contacting vendors to troubleshoot access to technical databases as needed
- Maintain professional etiquette when communicating with attorneys, debtors, courts, and vendors
Requirements:
- 4 year degree or paralegal certificate
- Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel and Adobe
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
