Welch Community Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for Medical Technologist positions. These positions involve performing advanced laboratory work to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Successful applicants will conduct complex medical laboratory tests in areas such as:
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Urinalysis
- Bacteriology
- Serology
- Blood Banking
In addition to conducting tests, these positions may provide technical assistance and consultation to Medical Laboratory Technicians or other medical professionals. Mandatory overtime is an essential job function of this position.
Successful applicants must:
Must possess appropriate certification or licensure as required for Medical Laboratory Technicians and/or Medical Technologist positions in West Virginia.
Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test.
All employees are subject to drug testing for probable cause, as set forth in agency and bureau policies.

Organizing workflow and allocating tasks among medical laboratory technicians.
Providing technical assistance and acting as a resource when the Laboratory Supervisor is unavailable.
Offering input on laboratory policies and procedures.
Conducting and assessing complex clinical laboratory tests within the licensed scope, including:
Chemistry
Hematology
Urinalysis
Bacteriology
Serology
Blood Banking
Demonstrating understanding of method principles and performing quality control measures.
Performing preventive maintenance and evaluating results for accuracy and adherence to critical limits.
These positions may be assigned to a specialty area and carry higher responsibility and discretion within that area.
