Position Summary:
The PATS Program Director oversees the academic skills and support programming at Archbishop Carroll, manages information about students with diagnosed learning differences, and oversees the Connelly Wellness Center. The PATS Program Director is responsible for maintaining a dynamic web of communication between students with learning differences, parents, and teaching staff in addition to taking an active role in the identification and remediation of individual student learning issues in order to help promote and support academic achievement.
The PATS Program Director maintains coherence and continuity of the academic support programming and the Connelly Wellness Center overall programming and responds to issues relevant to the academic, social and emotional well-being of students.
Specific responsibilities of the PATS Program Director include the following:
- Maintain electronic and paper files for students with diagnosed learning differences to support teachers and parents’ needs.
- Serve as the SSD coordinator for College Board and TAA for ACT testing programs to ensure appropriate accommodation is in place for qualified students.
- Read and interpret Psycho-Educational evaluations; make suggestions for appropriate accommodations and pedagogy and publish an Academic Accommodation Plan to be implemented at Archbishop Carroll.
- Prepare presentations for faculty regarding learning differences and assessment criteria for developing Academic Accommodation Plans.
Working with individual students and families:
- Conduct individual and small group sessions for students enrolled in the PATS Program on specific learning strategies.
- Meet on a regular basis with parents of students enrolled in the program to review learning goals and progress. Facilitate bi-annual team meetings with parents to set and review goals and monitor progress.
- Serve as an advocate and liaison for individual students with regard to classroom accommodation: engage individual and small groups of faculty in discussions about specific student needs.
- Track individual students' progress through classroom observations and assessments and initiate relevant support strategies for students identified as potentially having an undiagnosed learning difference. Make referrals and coordinate professional evaluations for students who are identified by parents or teachers as potentially having an undiagnosed learning difference
- Manage testing programs for students with approved testing accommodations facilitating the use of alternative testing spaces, extended time, and other testing accommodations. .
- Assist in the review of applications for incoming 9th grade students and transfer students with diagnosed learning differences and provide support to the admissions team decision making process.
- Provide intermittent support to students with temporary academic needs due to illness or injury.
- Initiate conversations with students and their parents to discuss strategies and set goals around learning issues and for college/career planning, referring to the Guidance Department when appropriate.
Miscellaneous duties:

Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree required
Ideal candidates will have a background in Special Education or experience implementing academic accommodations in a high school setting.
This is a full-time, 12-month instructional support position.
