This position is on the Criminal Division's (CRM) Office of Administration, Human Resources team, which supports CRM's mission of prosecuting high profile and nationally significant cases. The Human Resources team is comprised of committed and customer-focused HR professionals, and our overall workload is dynamic and fast paced. We work on routine matters related to recruitment, staffing, payroll, and employee programs, as well as many unique and exciting requests from all 17 Sections of CRM.

To qualify for the GS-15: You must have at least one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-14 federal grade level. This experience must include duties such as developing and implementing new or revised policy and procedure documents to include standard operating procedures related to federal human resources; developing and/or improving major human resources program areas due to changes in requirements or special need; and supervising or leading at least two of the following human resources functions: staffing and recruitment, classification, payroll/compensation, and benefits.Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for consideration by the closing date of this announcement.
Responsibilities:
This position is Assistant Human Resouces Officer/Deputy Director, and s located on the Human Resources team, which handles the staffing and recruitment, payroll and operations, and human capital functions for the Criminal Division. The multifaceted mission of the Criminal Division requires the Human Resources team to provide innovative and seasoned advice to hiring managers on issues such as creating and advertising new or unique positions, dealing with overseas assignments, payroll processes, and employee development.As a Deputy Director, Human Resources, your responsibilities will include:
- Manages, plans, and supervises HR functions in assigned portfolio. These functions include, but not limited to staffing and recruitment, onboarding, payroll and compensation, leave and benefits, promotions, separations, retirements, reasonable accommodations, and international operations support for the employees relocated overseas in support of the mission.
- Proactively manages assigned program areas to meet regular and re-occurring programmatic milestones. Keeps abreast of changing statutory and Departmental policy requirements related to assigned program areas.
- Analyzes and reviews standard and internal operating procedures, workflows, and processes to increase efficiency and accountability of human resources operations. Recommends and solicits approval for changes in workflows and processes that affect employees throughout the Division.
- Identifies and proposes solutions to human resources problems and issues that affect the whole Division or have an impact on mission critical programs.
- Provide consultative services to Division managers involving the full spectrum of HR functions.
- Leverages technology to automate work and drive efficiency among HR employees.
- Directing the daily operations of staff and providing technical and administrative direction to subordinates.
- Developing performance standards and evaluating employee performance.
