A leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking an experienced Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Group Leader to lead and grow its Boca Raton operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned SUE professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role, overseeing project delivery, team development, client relationships and business growth within a well-established and highly respected organisation.
The Role
As SUE Group Leader, you will take responsibility for managing local SUE operations, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and client service.
You will oversee project planning, budgeting, scheduling, team management and business development activities, while working closely with internal stakeholders and clients across a broad range of infrastructure and transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all aspects of local SUE operations
• Prepare cost estimates, proposals, scopes of work and fee negotiations
• Oversee field coordinators, technical staff and subcontractors
• Manage project schedules, resources and backlog planning
• Monitor project budgets and review invoices
• Ensure efficient collection, processing and delivery of SUE data and project deliverables
• Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for business growth
• Support staff development, mentoring and performance management
• Drive quality assurance and quality control standards across projects
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, surveying and geospatial teams
• Assist with financial forecasting, backlog management and equipment planning
• Support utility coordination activities and transportation projects
About You
• Minimum 8 years of experience within Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
• Proven project management experience
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience
• Valid driver's licence with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
Technical Experience
• Geophysical utility designation
• Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
• Vacuum excavation methodologies
• Utility mapping and investigation
• Utility coordination
• Infrastructure and transportation projects
Software Knowledge
• MicroStation
• GEOPAK
• Civil 3D
• Microsoft Office Suite
• CAD systems and utility mapping platforms
