Job Summary

The Georgia Department of Education – Career, Technical and Agricultural Education is recruiting for a Work-Based Learning Education Program Specialist. Under limited supervision, provides statewide leadership and coordination for Work-Based Learning programs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Job Responsibilities

·       Provide leadership and coordination in the development and administration of statewide materials and career cluster programs

·       Provide planning and consultative services to local schools and systems
Identify professional development needs

·       Develop appropriate training materials and methods in conjunction with other staff and agencies to address identified needs and ensure coordination of professional development activities

·       Create and manage statewide advisory committees comprised of stakeholders representing the entire state

·       Assess status of program implementation, documenting results, and recommending changes and improvements based on research and evaluation data

·       Coordinate the development of the Georgia Performance Standards curriculum development and implementation

·       Maintain a network of business and industry partnerships with secondary and post-secondary educators
Provide assistance to Georgia CTSOs

Preferred Qualifications:


Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
• Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field and three years of teaching experience
• Active involvement and experience in development and/or implementation of Work- Based programs in a school setting
• Knowledge of and experience in working with performance standards-based instruction
• Knowledge of and experience in working with business and industry
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Power Point)

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
