The Material Test Lab Intern supports material characterization activities such as tensile testing, hardness testing, chemical analysis, and thermal/mechanical performance evaluation. The role offers hands‑on experience with lab instruments and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare material samples for testing (cutting, mounting, polishing, labeling).
- Assist in conducting mechanical, thermal, and chemical tests.
- Operate material testing equipment (e.g., tensile machines, hardness testers, microscopes).
- Collect, analyze, and document test data.
- Support failure analysis and material evaluation studies.
- Maintain lab safety procedures and ensure equipment cleanliness.
- Prepare test reports and communicate results to engineers.
- Currently enrolled in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- Basic understanding of material properties (metals, plastics, composites).
- Interest in laboratory work and scientific testing methods.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow safety and quality standards.
