Reports to: Environmental Services Director
Position Summary: The school custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visiotrs. This position performs routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and facility upkeep to ensure the school building and grounds are in excellent condition, supporting the overall educational mission of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors; dust and wipe surfaces, windows, and fixtures.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles; dispose of waste according to school procedures.
- Restock restroom and classroom supplies.
- Set up and break down rooms for events, meetings, and school functions.
- Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, and reporting larger repairs.
- Monitor and secure the building, including locking/unlocking doors and setting alarms.
- Respond to emergency clean-up situations such as spills, illness, or weather-related conditions.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report repairs or replacements as needed.
- Assist in maintaining school grounds, including snow removal, salting walkways, and general landscaping support.
- Follow all district safety, security, and cleaning protocols, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
