Job Summary
The Superintendent position is responsible for operational support for all jobsites, while taking on measures to increase company effectiveness and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- A working knowledge of electrical codes and installation methods at a level normally acquired through completion of a 5-year electrical apprenticeship or related field; and
- 5 years’ experience in an electrical construction leadership position
- Leadership experience in a field environment
- Construction management degree
- Experience in the construction industry
- Experience in mission critical markets
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Visit and walk job sites regularly.
- Work remotely, supporting and improving OEG field operations.
- Train field leaders 1:1 or in small groups.
- Work closely with the job site Field Leader; Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman, Lead Journeyman to ensure company policies and practices are being followed.
- Work closely with the Corporate Health and Safety Director.
- Promote and train on safety practices that protect workers and company property.
- Promote the use of SafetyNet and other company approved safety inspection software.
- Promote practices and ideas which improve field production, safety, and profitability.
- Promote the use of pre-fabrication and lean construction practices.
- Invite the Prefab Manager to visit job sites to facilitate prefab plan development.
- Work closely with the Field Operations Manager on project personnel placement and strategic staffing; this may require moving personnel between projects.
- Review project phase codes with the PM and field leaders to develop strategy and accountability methods to improve labor productivity and labor forecast accuracy.
- Review project schedules with field leaders to accurately forecast labor needs, while identifying possible delays to be communicated to the PM and Field Operations Manager.
- Work with Operations staff to help the field leaders set up resource loaded baseline schedules, regular schedule updates and short interval look ahead schedules.
- Work with field leaders on material purchasing best practices including bulk or strategic buy outs, material storage, and on-site material management.
- Help field leaders plan the work, create work packages, and reduce re-work.
- Assist field leaders in developing healthy relationships with their crew and with customer superintendents.
- Train field leaders how to obtain written direction from the customer before executing extra work.
- Train field leaders how to plan for, track, procure material for, forecast labor, and execute change order work profitably.
- Help field leaders create and follow methods for crew performance accountability.
- Facilitate communication between the field leaders and the Support Center for tool and equipment needs.
- Travel to remote or out of state job sites periodically (upon request).
