Contract
- Full-time, fixed term contract.
Core Purpose
- Responsible for overseeing Balance of Plant (BOP) operations on site, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate field technicians, maintain compliance with safety regulations, and ensure accurate reporting to support project delivery.
- Provide full day to day support to BOP projects.
- The role can be project based on a rotational basis or can be hybrid depending upon the specific project requirements and deployment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Supervision and Team Management:
- Supervise BOP field technicians and teams, ensuring tasks are allocated effectively.
- Monitor work progress to ensure works meet required quality and safety standards.
- Provide technical and operational guidance to the technician team.
- Act as the primary on-site liaison with wind farm owners, OEM representatives, Tier 1 contractors and engineering teams where required as specified by PMO accountability.
- Where required, work offshore with teams to ensure effective service delivery.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce all safety procedures associated with BOP works including inspections, coating, working at heights, rope access etc.
- Ensure proper use of PPE as provided for specified work tasks.
- Verify adherence to approved risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks prior to commencement of work.
- Ensure compliance with GWO standards, site rules, and company HSE policies.
- Provide support to Project Managers.
BOP Inspection and Repair Oversight:
- Supervise all activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with technical specifications and approved task specific methodologies.
- Coordinate with the technical team to ensure the correct execution of work tasks and technical requirements including ITP and quality control.
Equipment and Tool Management:
- Ensure all tools, equipment and access systems are maintained in a safe working condition.
- Coordinate inspection, maintenance, and calibration of equipment and inspection devices assigned to the project.
- Monitor inventory levels of spares, tooling and materials and initiate restocking requests when required.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Conduct site audits and complete required safety checklists.
- Report incidents, defects, risks, or delays to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Review and approve Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with contractual and client reporting requirements.
- Approve DPRs to ensure accurate documentation of project progress, resource utilisation, and any operational issues.
- Produce Field Service Feedback Findings reports for submission to the Project Manager.
Coordination with Stakeholders:
- Coordinate with the Stores and Logistics Manager regarding material and equipment requirements for BOP operations.
- Provide regular operational status updates to the Project Manager to support project planning and reporting.
QHSE Responsibilities
To have a general understanding of the areas of our QHSE Management System and OEG’s QHSE aims and objectives that are relevant to the role.
Comply with the requirements of OEG Energy Group Policies and the responsibilities within the wider QHSE Management System.

Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in undertaking BOP works in a Lead Technician capacity.
Familiarity with BOP reporting mechanisms and documentation processes.
Strong organisational and coordination skills.
High level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy in documentation.
Ability to supervise and motivate field technicians in challenging environments.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple stakeholders.
Proficient in project management and resource planning systems (e.g. Reflow and Microsoft Office).
Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards in high-risk work environments.
Knowledge of GWO safety standards, working at heights protocols, and industry best standards.
Ability to manage team performance while enforcing discipline and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Experienced in coordinating with project managers, logistics, engineering teams, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
Ability to manage resources, materials, and equipment efficiently to maintain productivity and workflow continuity.
Ability to accurately document site observations, safety findings, and operational issues.
Understanding of how site productivity, reporting accuracy, and resource utilisation impacts project costs, programme delivery, and contractual performance.
Qualifications
- Full GWO Training, valid medical certification, and Chester Step certification.
