The Sales Representative is part of a team of experts dedicated to innovation, working day after day to successfully translate graphics into well-known brands in the marketplace. This role serves as a trusted resource for customers by combining technical print knowledge with relationship-building and business development skills.

The ideal candidate has experience in the print, graphic communications, prepress, or packaging industry and enjoys working with customers to identify solutions and create value. While sales experience is beneficial, OEC is open to developing candidates who possess strong technical industry knowledge and an interest in growing into a sales-focused role.

The Sales Representative is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and representing OEC's products and services with professionalism and expertise.

Reports to: Sales – Business Segment Leader

Status: Exempt

Salary Structure: Base salary, plus sales commissions

Location: This role will support business operations and development out of the Midwest.

Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through exceptional service, technical expertise, and responsiveness.
  • Manage existing customer accounts while identifying opportunities for growth and new business development.
  • Serve as a resource for customers by understanding project requirements and recommending solutions that align with their goals.
  • Develop an understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and OEC's capabilities to effectively support sales growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

  • Grow existing customer relationships while generating new business opportunities.
  • Promote the overall success of the company through continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and collaboration.
  • Share industry knowledge, best practices, and successful sales techniques with team members.
  • Contribute to an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Generate leads through various channels (i.e., cold calling, marketing, email, person-to-person, etc.)
  • Participate in Business Networking Groups and Tradeshows within assigned business segments and territory.
  • Become knowledgeable regarding assigned business segment and territory.
  • Identify and qualify potential clients.
  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries.
  • Communicate with customers regarding solutions and offerings.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, etc.
  • Be familiar with the latest industry trends and technical advancements and successfully apply them in daily activities.
  • Travel as necessary between facilities, customer or vendor locations, as necessary for business.
  • Submit orders and paperwork, activity reports, provide custom quotes as necessary or required.
  • Support account receivables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to develop a thorough understanding of OEC’s products and services. Be a motivated, self-starter who takes initiative and can maintain professionalism and flexibility in a hectic sales environment.

  • Knowledge of prepress / print industry background
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Good organizational skills, scheduling flexibility
  • Attention to detail and ability to problem solve
  • Committed to use of discretion and high standard of ethics.
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel.
  • Strong sales and relationship management skills desired

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the print, graphic communications, prepress, packaging, or related industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, account management, estimating, project management, customer service, or sales is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of print production processes, artwork preparation, color management, prepress workflows, or related technical disciplines is highly valued.
  • Previous sales experience is a plus but not required for candidates with strong industry knowledge and a desire to develop sales and business development skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
