The Plate Maker is part of a team of experts, dedicated to innovation, working day after day to successfully translate graphics into well-known brands in the marketplace. In this role, the Plate Maker produces high-quality, photopolymer plates to meet the production schedule and customer requirements. This role prioritizes quality and safety, and delivers on excellence everyday!
Location: This role is located in Willowbrook, Illinois
Starting Salary: An entry-level range starts at $20.00 per hour, additional consideration given for related (industry) job experience. Shift differential available for 2nd ($0.75/hour) and 3rd ($1.00/hour) shifts.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Produce photopolymer plates to meet production schedule and customer ship dates while maintaining the highest quality standards
- Maintain a clean work area and department employing good work habits and adhering to procedures established by the Plateroom Supervisor
- Monitor room temperature for proper plate making environment.
- Crosscheck file with final plate. Double check quality of films for analog plates.
- Utilize plate making systems to produce high quality printing plate.
- Develop and increase production capacity and efficiency within the department by sharing knowledge and production methods on equipment usage; proactively report or share feedback on any changes that might impact production.
- Utilize micrometer to ensure plates are within plate tolerance.
- Record job billing of time and materials as required.
- Adhere to all pertinent quality and safety standards, checks, and procedures; perform duties using quality and safety and guiding principles.
- Perform equipment maintenance as needed; follow scheduled maintenance activities.
- Provide accurate inventory counts and reorder items, if applicable.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic math aptitude; individual must have basic math skills and be able to read a ruler
- Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Basic computer skills; ability to work in production system, email and other work-related software; ability to communicate effectively using computer technologies
- Able to safely operate a forklift or be trained to do so
- Demonstrates independent judgment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Education and/or Experience:
3 years of plate making (plate mounting or related) experience preferred. High School diploma or equivalent is required; Associate Degree (Technical certification) in related field preferred. Basic Adobe(R) Illustrator software knowledge is helpful. Prior experience in printing/publishing is preferred but not necessary.
Equipment/Materials Used: Plate manufacturing, plate mounting and film equipment, ruler, calculator and general production equipment.
Conditions of Employment: Continuous standing, walking with repetitive bending and twisting. Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds (and occasionally up to 75 pounds). General vision and hearing.
