About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician (3-5 years experience minimum) to support the construction, retrofit, maintenance, and startup of equipment and systems at water and wastewater treatment facilities. This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning industrial electrical and control systems, including power distribution equipment, motor controls, PLC panels, instrumentation, and related components.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in industrial or municipal water and wastewater environments and is comfortable working on active construction sites, operating water treatment plants, and on service calls involving chemical feed and process systems.
The work is primarily centered on chemical metering systems and their associated electrical and control equipment, including field controllers, instrumentation, control panels, analyzers, pumps, and other equipment operating at voltages ranging from 120V to 480V. Responsibilities include establishing power feeds, installing and terminating control wiring, wiring and commissioning new instruments, and supporting startup of newly installed systems.
This role also includes troubleshooting and servicing existing equipment, and may involve minor mechanical or piping adjustments required to complete electrical connections and equipment integration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, or controls work.
- Knowledgeable and proficient with current NEC codes.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- industrial construction electrical work
- water or wastewater treatment facilities
- manufacturing, chemical, or process plant environments
- Working knowledge of:
- PLCs and HMIs
- VFDs and motor controls
- electrical distribution equipment
- process instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings and schematics.
- Proficient with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field, as well as within a team enviroment
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Journeyman electrician license or equivalent field experience.
- Experience in municipal water/wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, chemical feed systems, or odor control systems.
- Experience with instrumentation calibration and loop verification.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming interfaces, and industrial networking is a plus.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and inside active industrial facilities.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, use stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work around operating equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other site-required gear.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the team in the electromechanical construction, installation, maintenance, and service of chemical feed and treatment systems at both Odyssey facilities and remote customer sites in a safe, clean, environmentally responsible, and productive manner.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Diagnose, repair, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical systems associated with chemical feed systems, metering pumps, instrumentation, mixers, odor control systems, level instruments, and related equipment.
- Install, inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components to ensure proper operation, including at times to pull wiring and run conduit.
- Calibrate instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and project requirements.
- Verify that electrical systems, installations, and repairs comply with applicable safety standards, project requirements, and electrical codes.
- Communicate professionally with customers to understand ongoing issues or concerns and provide clear verbal and written service updates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle, tools, and work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, site-specific safety requirements, and company standards at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a project team and support pipe fitters, laborers, supervisors, and technical leads in the execution of field work.
- Support the installation, startup, checkout, and servicing of new and existing chemical systems and related equipment.
- Assist with system startup, operational checks, and basic operator training for newly installed equipment.
- Assist supervisors and other field personnel with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities as directed.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and readiness to work at assigned jobsites and service locations.
- Maintain a basic understanding of chemical hazards and safe handling practices; job-specific training will be provided.
- Promote and support a safe working environment for all team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Hours of Work:
Typical workdays range from 8 to 10 hours, with most work performed at customer sites. Work is generally scheduled during weekday daytime hours, though start times and daily hours may vary based on project demands and site conditions. Overtime is consistently available.
Location & Travel:
- Candidates located in the Tampa Bay Area are preferred.
- This position requires travel to customer jobsites throughout Florida.
- Overnight travel is required, approximately 2 to 4 nights per month
Compensation:
