Major Functions
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for all renovations, adherence to safety codes and management of physical plant emergencies. She/he is also responsible for daily cleaning and housekeeping activities.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily house run to assess condition of the facility relative to agency standards and determine areas of concern.
- Ongoing maintenance of plumbing, electricity, heating and wiring.
- Responsible for emergency and minor repairs to be completed in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for responding to resident work orders in a timely fashion.
- Responsible for ensuring apartment/living quarters are well maintained and clean.
- Inspects apartments/living quarters and corrects deficiencies prior to arrival of new residents.
- Perform carpentry work as needed.
- Painting and maintenance of facility, both inside and out.
- Maintain inventory and prepare purchase orders for maintenance and housekeeping supplies in a timely fashion.
- In accordance with Program Director, responsible for compliance with all applicable regulations, codes and standards.
- Completes housekeeping tasks and cleaning of facility at direction of supervisor.
- Responsible for training new maintenance & housekeeping staff.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Attend all required in-service training seminars.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D required
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a New York City building, preferably, in a residential social service setting.
- Must have a valid NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness.
- Valid NYS Driver's License highly preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook programs).
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Position requires on call availability.
Salary : $45,000 - $50,000
