How You Will Contribute:
The maintenance technician keeps facilities and machinery safe, compliant, and operational. The maintenance technician troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, execute preventative maintenance schedules, respond to repair requests; including but is not limited to resident rooms, common areas, main facility grounds, step down home grounds, departmental reporting, supervision of assigned staff, supply requisition, mechanical equipment, all electrical appliances, all electronic devices, and all vehicles owned or leased by Lifeskills South Florida.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with peers, immediate supervisor, and leadership throughout the organization.
Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Manages outside environment including mowing, plants, landscaping, building maintenance, and repair.
- Communicates with appropriate staff if an area is out of use.
- Performs repair of facility, vehicle, or grounds in a timely manner.
- Manages the safety and risk reduction of facilities and vehicles through maintaining safety equipment, managing hazardous materials, maintaining, and inspecting fire safety equipment and utilities.
- Performs repair and maintenance of building, including but not limited to; minor plumbing repairs, maintaining smoke detectors, air conditioning filters, caulking, tile repair, wall repair, touch up paint, and grout.
- Performs maintenance of grounds keeping in a timely manner, including but not limited to; mowing, edging, trimming grass, hedges, trees, planting, watering, weeding, mulching flower beds and rock beds, maintaining ponds and fountains.
- Maintaining walkways, sprinklers, decks, gutters, patios, and exterior lighting
- Pressure Wash Exteriors sidewalks/ walls
- Carpet cleaning
- Clean exterior windows / kitchen cabinets and drawers.
- Bathroom grout cleaning
- Clean walls, door, ceiling and baseboards
- Performs and/or coordinates housekeeping.
Additional Responsibilities
- Can be relied upon to be at work as scheduled and is rarely absent from work, notifying the supervisor if absent.
- Demonstrates an ability to adapt to changes in the facility function, management styles, and facility routines.
- Reads, understands, and adheres to all company policy statements on ethics, conduct, and conflict of interests.
- Adheres to facility policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, implementing regularly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalency required. Trade or vocational school training preferred.
- Previous experience in maintenance or grounds keeping preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
- Required valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors
- Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies – may be very quiet to moderate
- Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste or smell.
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds
