What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Electrical Engineer position at Odin Dynamics, Inc?
About Odin Dynamics
Founded in 2025, Odin Dynamics is a defense technology company building autonomous underwater vehicles that will define the next era of undersea warfare. We are focused on delivering capable, resilient autonomous systems that strengthen the strategic advantage of the United States and its allied navies. We move fast, build real hardware, and operate with the urgency that the mission demands.
The Role
We're looking for a mid-level Electrical Engineer to own the design, development, and integration of the electronic systems that power our autonomous underwater vehicles. You'll work across the full electrical stack — from board-level design to system-level architecture — and see your work go from schematic to ocean. This is a hands-on role where you'll be as comfortable at a bench with a scope and soldering iron as you are in a schematic editor.
What You'll Do
You'll be solving some of the hardest engineering problems of our time — building autonomous systems that operate in the most demanding environments on the planet. Your work will directly shape the future of undersea warfare for the U.S. Navy and our allied partners. This is real autonomy, real hardware, and real national impact. If you want your work to matter, this is the place.
Disclosures
This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Please note that any offer for employment may be conditioned on authorization to receive software or technology controlled under these U.S. export control laws and regulations without sponsorship for an export license.
Odin Dynamics, Inc. participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Odin Dynamics is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, uniform service, Veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic per federal, state, or local law, including those with a criminal history, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws.
Compensation Range: $140K - $180K

What You'll Do
- Design and lay out printed circuit boards for vehicle subsystems, from concept through production-ready deliverables.
- Architect and implement power generation, conversion, and distribution systems for demanding undersea operating environments.
- Design and integrate sensor interfaces and signal conditioning circuits for the vehicle's perception and navigation systems.
- Define and implement communication bus architectures that tie vehicle subsystems together reliably.
- Design wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect solutions that survive pressure, vibration, and the marine environment.
- Contribute to overall electrical system architecture — defining interfaces, power budgets, and integration strategies across the vehicle.
- Bring up, debug, and validate boards and integrated assemblies on the bench, in the lab, and in the water.
- Work closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to ensure clean integration across disciplines.
- Generate and maintain documentation including schematics, BOMs, test procedures, and design reviews.
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in electrical hardware design and development.
- Strong PCB design skills — schematic capture, layout, and an understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management fundamentals.
- Experience with power system design including conversion topologies, battery management, and distribution architectures.
- Working knowledge of common embedded communication protocols and bus architectures.
- Familiarity with analog and mixed-signal design, including signal conditioning for sensors.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment — oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, spectrum analyzers — and comfort debugging at the board level.
- Experience designing for harsh environments — thermal, vibration, pressure, or corrosion considerations.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Experience with high-density or high-reliability PCB design for defense or aerospace applications.
- Familiarity with underwater connectors, pressure-tolerant or pressure-rated electronics, and marine electrical standards.
- Exposure to EMI/EMC design practices and compliance testing.
- Experience taking designs from prototype through low-rate production.
- Background in robotics, autonomous systems, or defense platforms.
- Active security clearance (Secret or above).
