Role Description The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center in Odessa, WA. The CNO oversees all nursing services, ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care across the organization. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising nursing staff, managing staffing levels and scheduling, and developing policies, procedures, and clinical standards aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices. The CNO collaborates with executive leadership and interdisciplinary teams on strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, and patient experience programs. This role also includes mentoring nursing leaders, supporting professional development, managing budgets and resources, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement in clinical care.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in nursing management, including team supervision, mentoring, and collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical and administrative leaders.
  • Strong clinical expertise in nursing practice, patient safety, and quality of care, with the ability to develop and implement evidence-based policies and procedures.
  • Experience in healthcare operations, including staffing and scheduling, resource and budget management, and regulatory compliance in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building with patients, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Skill in strategic planning, performance improvement, and change management to support organizational goals and enhance patient outcomes.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State or eligibility for licensure by hire date.
  • Prior experience as a nursing director, CNO, or equivalent senior nursing leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to inclusive, equitable, and patient-centered care, and ability to work effectively in a rural community healthcare environment.
