What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Traveling Superintendent position at Oden Hardy Construction, Inc.?
We have an immediate need for a traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent experienced in multi-story light-gauged steel and CMU commercial construction. The candidate must have minimum of 7 yrs Commercial Construction Superintendent experience with project scopes of $5M or more; multi-level Self-Storage construction a plus!
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The commercial construction superintendent position has overall responsibility for the field operations associated with the project including but not limited to; the implementation and monitoring of corporate safety policy, overall project schedule, determining methods of construction, and supervision of all work by subcontractors, developing and maintaining site logistics, quality control, maintaining cost control on the project. This position reports to the Project Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & DUTIES:
Ensure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors.
Must be capable to operate independently on a day-to-day basis while relying on the home office for strategic direction, resources, and support.
Ability to read and interpret all contract documents, drawings and specifications issued for performance of the construction work.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Microsoft Project Management, and experience with Plan Grid [or acute ability to learn the platform].
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
Ability to interpret and generate RFI's; able to communicate responses clearly to subcontractors.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and legible history set of drawings on-site; including all necessary as-builts.
Review and understand each individual subcontractor's scope of work; lead weekly subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and pre-construction meetings as required.
Daily general inspection of the work to ensure quality and compliance with the contract documents / approved submittals.
Work with local municipalities on permit issues as required.
Responsible for weekly reports to home office, including but not limited to 2-week look-ahead schedule, vendor logs, and expense reporting.
Develop punch-list and manage it to close-out.
