Organizational Location: These positions are located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, OD EXECUTIVE SECRETARIAT, in Washington, District of Columbia.

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
  • Being responsible for accurate record keeping procedures for correspondence throughout the life cycle process to include historical data;
  • Answering inquires dealing with the status of all routine and priority correspondence; AND,
  • Assuring responses are prepared in a timely manner.
Time in Grade Requirement GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Responsibilities:

As a Correspondence Analyst, at full performance level you will perform the following duties:
  • Receive correspondence from multiple resources and venues to be used internally and externally for delegation purposes.
  • Log all correspondence in area of responsibility into tracker and assigns to correlating office with specific action and guidance.
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the program on status of correspondence assigned.
  • Monitor all correspondence is directed to appropriate subordinate office and periodically reports the status to management.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance, as needed, to the leadership and assure that responses are prepared in a timely manner.
