Type of Position: Full-time
Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8 am - 5pm
General Description:
In this role, you will support daily coding operations, ensures accuracy and compliance with all billing regulations, and drives continuous improvement in coding quality and efficiency. The Coding Lead plays a critical role in staff training, auditing, and collaboration with billing and leadership to optimize revenue cycle performance.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Review and audit coding work to ensure accuracy and compliance with billing guidelines
- Train and educate new coders on surgical pathology coding, including ICD-10-CM and CPT application.
- Assist with corrected claims and collaborate with billing teams to resolve discrepancies; claim denials.
- Partner with management to implement workflow improvements, productivity and quality standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three (3) years of medical billing experience; surgical pathology coding preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or leading team members
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing platforms.
- Ability to work independently.
- Computer skills
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification preferred
