Sr. Coding Specialist/Lead - Medical Coding

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Type of Position: Full-time

Work Hours: Mon-Fri 8 am - 5pm

General Description:

In this role, you will support daily coding operations, ensures accuracy and compliance with all billing regulations, and drives continuous improvement in coding quality and efficiency. The Coding Lead plays a critical role in staff training, auditing, and collaboration with billing and leadership to optimize revenue cycle performance.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Review and audit coding work to ensure accuracy and compliance with billing guidelines
• Train and educate new coders on surgical pathology coding, including ICD-10-CM and CPT application.
• Assist with corrected claims and collaborate with billing teams to resolve discrepancies; claim denials.
• Partner with management to implement workflow improvements, productivity and quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three (3) years of medical billing experience; surgical pathology coding preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or leading team members
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical billing platforms.
• Ability to work independently.
• Computer skills

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification preferred
