Job Overview
The Production Lab Technician plays an essential role in manufacturing custom contact lenses by operating precision equipment within a cleanroom environment. This position supports daily production goals, ensures adherence to quality and safety standards, and helps deliver high-quality products on time.
Position Summary:
Production Lab Technician I is an entry-level role focused on learning foundational production tasks under close supervision. Technicians develop core technical skills, follow cleanroom protocols, and become proficient in one or more entry-level production stations.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties (other duties may be assigned):
- Follow all established work instructions, SOPs, and procedures
- Learn and perform tasks at assigned production stations under supervision
- Maintain accurate production records and material usage logs
- Rotate through manufacturing positions as part of a high-performance team
- Report equipment issues or quality concerns promptly to a lead or supervisor
- Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas daily
- Follow all safety, quality, and cleanroom standards
- Participate in required training and progress toward Technician II competencies
- Apply company Fundamentals in daily tasks and interactions
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math skills (addition and subtraction)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn technical processes
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Ability to stand for long periods and handle small components with precision
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft 365 or similar)
Progression Requirement:
Technician I employees are expected to demonstrate reliable attendance, quality performance, and proficiency in either Base Curve or Front Curve processes within 90 days. Meeting these standards is required for advancement to Technician II.
Physical demands and work environment
- Work performed in a Level 5 cleanroom environment
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, dust, and production-related chemicals
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Lifting or carrying of materials up to 10 lbs.
