Our client, Esperta Health, is a leading provider of in-home and virtual chronic wound care, delivering physician-led specialty services directly to patients wherever they call home. They are seeking a State Medical Director for Florida to lead clinical operations, drive wound healing outcomes, and build high-performing provider teams across the state.
This is a working physician leadership role that combines direct patient care (40%) with clinical leadership, mentorship, health plan engagement, and strategic growth. The State Medical Director reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is accountable for clinical excellence and measurable results statewide.
What You'll Do
Deliver wound care through in-home visits and a proprietary telehealth platform for synchronous remote supervision with Nurse Practitioners
Manage complex wounds including venous ulcers, pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, post-surgical wounds, and other chronic wounds
Mentor and coach physicians and NPs through ride-alongs, chart reviews, case audits, and structured feedback
Own clinical KPIs including healing rates, time to closure, hospitalizations, infection rates, amputation rates, and utilization
Partner with health plans and health systems on performance reviews and value-based care strategy
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management for the provider team
Collaborate with executive leadership on growth strategy and protocol development
Requirement
MD or DO from an accredited institution
Active, unrestricted Florida medical license
Wound care certification (CWSP, ABWM, or equivalent)
5 years of clinical experience across varied settings
Experience supervising mid-level practitioners
Background in value-based care and health plan partnerships
Willingness to travel regularly within Florida
Preferred
Experience in in-home or community-based physician practice
Multi-site or multi-region medical leadership
Comfort presenting clinical data to executive and payer audiences
