Job Summary
This role is responsible for determining donor eligibility, plasma collection, and product processing while maintaining compliance.
This is What You’ll Do
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and industry regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain production standards and facility compliance.
- Deliver a high level of customer service and positive donor experience in alignment with company values and culture.
- Assess donor eligibility by conducting vitals, microhematocrit and total protein testing, and registration in accordance with SOPs.
- Monitor donor conditions during procedures to ensure safety, comfort, and product quality.
- Set up, prepare, and operate automated plasmapheresis equipment; troubleshoot alarms, respond to adverse events, and disconnect donors upon completion.
- Collect, process, and store plasma products and samples, including freezer organization, shipment preparation, and temperature monitoring, in compliance with SOPs and regulations.
- Maintain donor center equipment through routine and periodic quality control checks and manufacturer-recommended procedures.
- Uphold cleanliness and organization of work and storage areas, ensuring adequate supplies, safe handling of biohazardous waste, and adherence to First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory methods.
- Maintain accurate and complete recordkeeping, confidentiality, and reporting in compliance with SOPs and company policy.
- Mentor and train junior technicians as a Designated Trainer; partner with Quality Assurance on performance, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee donor flow, including scheduling of lunches, breaks, and adherence to overall center schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is What it Takes
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.
- Any specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Utilize all required and appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
- Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder for extended periods.
- Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
- Ability to perform precise tasks that require repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
- Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
- Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis and be punctual.
- Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable).
- Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle (if applicable).
