Position Overview
Octans Capital is seeking a Business Development Director to support the continued growth of its capital markets advisory business.
The role is focused on developing prospective corporate clients, building relationships with senior decision-makers, and converting qualified opportunities into client engagements.
The firm provides an active pipeline of prospective companies through proprietary outreach, referrals, market intelligence, and senior relationships. The Business Development Director will take ownership of these opportunities and manage the commercial process from initial contact through engagement.
This position is well suited for a commercially driven professional with strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to build credibility with founders, CEOs, and CFOs.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain relationships with prospective corporate clients.
• Engage directly with founders, CEOs, CFOs, and other senior executives.
• Qualify prospective opportunities and identify relevant capital markets needs.
• Present Octans Capital’s capabilities across IPO, M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory.
• Manage client discussions, follow-up, proposals, and commercial negotiations.
• Drive qualified opportunities toward signed engagements.
• Coordinate with senior bankers and transaction teams throughout the business development process.
• Maintain disciplined management of prospective clients and business development activity.
• Contribute to client acquisition and revenue growth of the firm.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, client coverage, or relationship management.
• Strong executive communication and presentation skills.
• Commercially minded, persuasive, proactive, and results-oriented.
• Ability to establish credibility and develop relationships with senior corporate executives.
• Strong understanding of U.S. business culture and professional communication.
• Experience in investment banking, capital markets, financial services, professional services, or sophisticated B2B sales preferred.
• Knowledge of IPOs, M&A, capital raising, or public markets is preferred.
• Native or near-native English communication skills.
• Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is strongly preferred.

The position offers a performance-oriented compensation structure consisting of a base salary and significant commission tied to client conversion and revenue generation.
